Inspiration and Vision
I wanted to share my inspiration and vision about what I’ve had for the Blood Rose stories. When I started NaNo ‘04, I didn’t have -any- of these things in mind. They just have been slowly devoloping along the way.
- Each installment thus far can stand in its own, but there is a larger purpose, such as any other series (i.e. Harry Potter…)
- The format reminds me of a series of video games. Don’t laugh! each book, because it stands on its own, has its own “bad guy”, but those bay guys are part of the whole so much as just lending to the progress of getting to the end of the story.
- The format also reminds me of anime. DON’T LAUGH! :-p It reminds me of Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Big O. This is quite the same as the video game thing, but seen in a bit of a different light.
- My characters and POV is reminds me of the Firefly series. There are a few flashbacks which fill the reader in who they’re reading about, which lays the path to getting to know the characters and the world. There is also quite a bit of seriousness with plenty of lightheartedness. (which is where in touches on Trigun…)
- While each character does come across as specifically human or anthropomorphic (and then as a specific species…) I could fluently convert everyone to all human or all anthropomorphic. I would rather not, but it can be done.
