Angela Englund’s Writings

1. Breakdown

Here’s when things get interesting! I have been participating in National Novel Writing Month for four years now.

NaNo ‘04: I started writing my novel, knew my story, didn’t really have an end in mind… but by the time I got to 50k I realized that my story wasn’t finished. I had a good -end- to the book, but I decided to pick it up again the next year with the next installment.

NaNo ‘05: was written by the seat of my pants and finished in about 17 days due to the fact that I was going across the country… I have actually successfully forced myself to forget that NaNo ‘05 ever happened… the book is just that horrid. But still, the main story like progressed, but it didn’t end, except for a vague end of that particular book, which isn’t written out yet. I was starting to think I had a trilogy on my hands.

NaNo ‘06: Things get interesting and a little on the deep side, as far as the storyline goes and the rich details my original world has developed. The story flourishes with a focus on the Blood Rose’s captain, which I wasn’t expecting because the storyline from the beginning was supposed to be about Rayna finding her mom. The storyline doesn’t end, but I do have a general end of that particular ‘novel’ also.

NaNo ‘07: I finished the 50k incredibly early this year, on the 19th I believe. In fact, its -still- NaNo as I’m typing this. Things didn’t go quite as planned. I thought they would have reached Rayna’s mom somewhere between 25-30k. They didn’t actually end up getting to where they needed to go until around 40-45k. I WILL finish the STORY LINE this year! If I keep working incredibly hard, I can finish it by the end of the month, but here I am typing all this out… but there has been quite a few surprising things happening.
